Project 2: Rivers and Floods DUE: 3-18-16
Objective: Students should "understand the importance of focus and vision-leaders and advocates can do anything, but they can't do everything." The missions and goals of a leader are affected by certain opportunities and it is important for students to recognize their vision and focus as leaders and advocates as a bigger picture rather than on a smaller scale.
Creative Idea: Write the name of various colors on index cards, but don't write the word "red" in red ink. Instead, write the word "red" in green ink or write the word "green" in blue ink. Divide into pairs that each have a set of cards. Have one student volunteer say the color of the ink, but not the actual color that the world spells out, while the other student hold up the cards and quickly changes them.
Movie:The River Wild Scene 1:33:51-1:37:23
Movie: Remember the Titans Scene 34:42-38:40
Talk it Over:
-Many organizations or individuals begin very focused like a river, but as they expand, they lose their initial vision and become a flood. What are some of the benefits you would have as an agriculture advocate if you had a clear, focused vision?
-Try to think of some famous people or historical figures that lost their vision. List them with a brief explanation of ho you believe they lost their vision. What was the end result?
Try it Out!
-From a personal perspective, determine if there is a specific goal you want to accomplish as a student. Do you want to learn more about where your food comes from? Do you want to run for chapter office? Do you want to earn and FFA Degree? Do you want to lead efforts to help you chapter win a National Chapter Award?
- Write out specific steps you need to take to achieve the goal.
-Are their areas in your life where you need to say "no" in order to stay in the "flow" of your chosen "river?"
